Rules of Footgolf

Footgolf follows many of the same rules as traditional golf, with some adaptations to fit the nature of the game. Here are the key rules to keep in mind:

1. Objective: The objective of Footgolf is to kick a football into a series of 21-inch diameter holes in as few shots as possible, similar to golf.

2. Course Layout: Footgolf courses typically consist of 9 or 18 holes, with distances ranging from 50 to 200 yards per hole. Each hole is marked with a tee box and a flag indicating the location of the hole.

3. Starting the Game: Players take turns kicking off from the tee box, with the player farthest from the hole going first. The player with the lowest score on the previous hole tees off first on the next hole.

4. Playing the Ball: Players must play the ball from where it lies, without moving it except as allowed by the rules. The ball may be placed behind the tee markers but no closer to the hole.

5.Order of Play: After the initial kick-off, the player whose ball is farthest from the hole kicks first. Players take turns kicking until all balls have been holed out.

6.Penalties: Penalties may be incurred for infractions such as out-of-bounds shots, lost balls, or kicking another player’s ball. The penalty for each infraction is typically one stroke added to the player’s score.

7.Scoring: Each hole is assigned a par score, representing the number of kicks it should take an average player to complete the hole. Players keep track of their scores on a scorecard, with the lowest score at the end of the round declared the winner.

8.Etiquette: Players should observe proper etiquette on the course, including repairing divots, avoiding unnecessary noise or distractions, and maintaining a reasonable pace of play.

9.Equipment: Players are typically required to wear appropriate footwear, such as soccer cleats or turf shoes, to avoid damaging the course. The use of regular golf clubs is not permitted; only soccer balls are allowed.

10.Local Rules: Some courses may have additional local rules or regulations, so be sure to familiarize yourself with any specific rules before starting your round.

Remember, Footgolf is meant to be fun and accessible for players of all ages and skill levels. So, grab your soccer ball and hit the course for a game that combines the best of both worlds – football and golf!
